Hyatt Place Detroit/Utica

I had a great stay at this location. I arrived very late on a Friday morning (at 2:30 am) and Casey greeted me at the front desk and helped me find the perfect room. Rooms are clean and fresh -- not musty or lots of fragrance -- and quiet. Doors are solid wood so you will not hear noises from the hall way. Bedding is super soft -- and provided bath products are good quality. Nice desk to work and seating area.

I'm Ray Jordan and I usually have to come here for work - typically once a month (spending and entire week here)... I consider this my home, away from home...the manager and staff do a tremendous job at keeping the hotel clean and being accommodating to guest. I've witnessed great customer service every time I check in and entering/leaving this hotel...most importantly, this location is close to many delicious restaurants in the area...

The staff at the Hyatt Place, Utica totally makes this hotel awesome. They are warm, welcoming, and do a great job! The breakfast and desk staff are exceptional! Breakfast is very good. The room is clean, and beds/pillows are comfortable. There was no microwave, but there’s one available in the breakfast area. A/C works great! The water pressure was great! The hotel was full, but quiet. We stayed a week, and housekeeping came every other day. I do wish the hotel had more wall hooks. The chlorine in the pool was strong. The hotel is older, but they’re making incremental updates. We plan to stay again in December. Thanks, Hyatt!

I've really tried to give this place another try recently. Our first stay last year was wonderful. The staff was great, the amenities were wonderful, and the bar was a nice bonus. The pool was perfect temperature and clean and the room was great for the price. The second time we went it really wasn't that great. Both elevators went down, the food tasted old, and the other patrons of the hotel were disrespectful. We were on the 6th floor with with our children and we got enough points for half a room after complaining to corporate. We came back a few weeks later after a utility emergency at our house, the water mains broke so we came here with the kids to be able to shower and use a bathroom properly. It was dirty, there were people drinking liquor out of Styrofoam cups in the pool area and the elevators still weren't operational. The breakfast once again was terrible. It's really sad because the staff are really nice, but the place needs an update, the food quality needs improvement, and the building needs to be maintained better especially since the hotel costs more the two next to it. We will be staying at the LaQuinta next door next time instead.

My husband and I checked into this hotel very last minute... and late in the evening... due to a storm that rolled through the area & knocked out power at the hotel we were originally reserved. Marissa, at check-in, was the most pleasant, professional individual! Such a warm, genuine smile. She made our evening chaos (from previous hotel) so smooth and welcoming, which made us extremely happy we changed locations. I needed to call Marissa the following week to follow up on a matter and she immediately remembered us, including our dog! Even though it was now the holiday weekend, and she was getting ready for some vacation time herself, she followed through with her promise in a very quick and efficient manner! Although we only needed to stay for one evening upon happenstance, our room was very nice and in a nice location of town, but it was Marissa that stands out the most to us, providing a wonderful experience all around.. during and after our stay.

My room smelled like body odor covered with chemical cleaners. I didn’t even dare to sit on the couch and slept fully cover on the bed. Bathroom was clean, but the carpet was lifting up on the edges, sofa clearly needed to be replaced and had an odor coming off of it, maybe it was the floor too, I was not going to further my investigation.
